Grossed out talaga sila sa fishhead! (It's a mortal sin daw to eat anything with the head.) Sus! They don't realize what they are missing! Kahit nga dad-in-law ko, aminado reading in Nat'l Geographic about fishheads containg 80% of the protein content of the fish. I guess he wanted to try whatever we prepare using fishheads because he's quite adventurous with foods, pero not my mom-in-law (who is also grossed out with pickled pig's feet. I wonder how to make that???).Mananghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01624312516837924706noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7724275.post-1095357512847108642004-09-16T18:58:00.000+01:002004-09-16T18:58:00.000+01:00Celia, of course. Daughter was already requesting that I cook fish last night kasi puro na daw kami meat this week, eh tinamad talaga ako at akoy nagluto noong isang gabi.ting-alinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11867003791183939040noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7724275.post-1095328654067421942004-09-16T10:57:00.000+01:002004-09-16T10:57:00.000+01:00Drstel: thanks for dropping by. I guess tayo ang magagaling magluto neto.ting-alinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11867003791183939040noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7724275.post-1095291612567999042004-09-16T00:40:00.000+01:002004-09-16T00:40:00.000+01:00hi! must be sinigang week...delectation and purple...hi! must be sinigang week...delectation and purple girl are cooking it too.just had to share an anecdote fr a Pinay(not me, really!) who bought salmon heads fr the friendly neighborhood fishmonger at our Stop and Shop...she asked, "must be hard having so many kids," (the pinay had 3 in tow at the time), "I use these for fertilizer." Ang lupit 'no! I told Pinay, ba't di ka nagtaray at iskandalo??? It was being sold at US$.50 a lb., but if they sell it wa sila paki kung anong gagawin mo di ba. Eniwei, it's their loss and our gain, salmon heads have got a lot of flavor & bang for the buck. I've resorted to watercress or broccoli for the greens, and tamarind concentrate fr Thailand & India in lieu of Knorr/fresh sampalok. I've bought frozen camias here fr Phils., labeled "bilimbi". Thanks for sharing recipes! BTW, I've also been told that pork neck bones, sold here really cheap, are sold for dog food (chew toys??) but they are really tasty for sinigang too. They're not that cheap at Asian grocers, kasi everyone's in the knowexcellent for soup, along w/ chicken necks & backs). I prefer them to the fattier baby back ribs. Happy cooking!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08367038970219118940noreply@blogger.com
